About Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas


Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of   Oil and Gas is the major higher educational establishment of oil and gas profile in Ukraine. It has the highest, IV-th level of accreditation.

University trains:

  • -         specialists for oil and gas industry and other branches of national economy;
  • -         Candidates and Doctors of Sciences;
  • -         Masters for Public Administration;
  • -         officers for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

 University carries out:

  • -       postgraduate and in-service training;
  • -       national and international certification of oil and gas engineering personnel;
  • -       research, innovation and publishing activities;
  • -       and strengthens international cooperation.

 

University was reorganized from Ivano-Frankivsk Institute of Oil and Gas, which was founded in 1967 on the basis of the General Technical Faculty of the Lviv Polytechnic Institute.

In 2001 the University was granted the status of the National University in accordance with the Decree of the President of Ukraine

At present nearly 11,000 students are enrolled at 9 Faculties, 3 Institutes and 2 colleges. The university offers academic programs in 23 fields of specialization and 30 specialties (majors). The University hosts students from China, Vietnam, India, Poland, Russia, Belarus, Lithuania, Moldova, Turkmenistan, Jordan, several African countries. Since its creation the University has trained more than 45,000 professionals.

     

UNIVERSITY STAFF

There are 700 faculty members where:

  • - 100 Doctors of Science, professors;
  • - more than 400 Candidates of Sciences, associate professors;     
  • - 19 Laureates of the State Prize of Ukraine in Science and Technology;
  • - more than 500 inventors.

The University carries out active international activities in the spheres of education and science.  Every year the university teaching staff participates in different international grant programs, conferences, seminars, workshops conducted both within the University and abroad. Students have the opportunity to undergo professional practical trainings in Universities, Institutes and enterprises of Germany, Poland, Austria, Norway, Sweden, Great Britain, Czech Republic, Romania, Turkey, Canada, USA as well as to study abroad.
