Odessa National Polytechnic University was founded in 1918.
Work and achievements of scientists working in different years at the university, as well as those who today continues to work within walls of ONPU, are known to the scientific community. Among them are Nobel laureate professor I. Tamm.
Since 1994 ONPU is a member of European University Association (EUA).
Since 1996 ONPU is a member of IAU and EAIE.
In 2000 UNESCO Department was established in ONPU.
In 2006 ONPU has signed Magna Charta Universitatum.
ONPU’s structure includes:

- 2 faculties,
- 62 departments,
- 4 colleges.

- 150 specialized scientific and research laboratories
Today ONPU actively collaborates with educational, science and industry centers from 20 countries and with more than 40 Universities all over the world.
